Natural Fertility Services Tasmania

Natural Fertility Services Tasmania is a program that educates individuals wanting to track their fertility or couples wanting to learn about their fertility and plan their families (to achieve or space pregnancies).

What does this program offer?

This program offers personalised one-on-one support to learn the Sympto-Thermal Method of Natural Family Planning (STM). The support is provided on a confidential basis by an educator accredited with the Australian Council of Natural Family Planning. The service can also be used by couples experiencing difficulty conceiving/infertility.

The program offers a healthy choice of fertility awareness, free from devices or artificial hormones/chemicals.

“NFP is the term given to methods for planning and
preventing pregnancies by observation of the naturally
occurring signs and symptoms of the fertile and infertile
phases of the menstrual cycle, with avoidance of intercourse
during the fertile phase if pregnancy is to be avoided”.

World Health Organisation 1982

Who can access this program?

STM can be used at any stage of a woman’s reproductive life.

This program can be accessed by couples wanting to achieve or postpone pregnancy; couples wanting to discontinue contraception and engaged couples seeking fertility awareness in preparation for their marriage.

The program can also be used by couples having difficulty achieving a pregnancy or women wanting to track their fertility to treat reproductive health issues (e.g. PCOS, PMS). Referrals can also be made to specialist educators and/or doctors in these circumstances.

Breastfeeding and weaning mothers can also learn the Sympto-Thermal Method.

The STM is suited to women who have short, long, average or irregular cycles.

Peri-menopausal women can also use the STM.
